A few months after acquiring the presbytery of Sainte-Rose-de-Lima church, the centre de pédiatrie sociale en communauté Main dans la main officially begins work on transforming the building. This concrete step marks the launch of the first phase of the relocation project, and is part of a major $1.5 million fundraising campaign.
«Seeing the work begin is an extremely positive moment for our team and for the families we support. This building will become a true living environment, designed to support the development and well-being of the region's children,» emphasizes Elisabeth Lapointe, General Manager of the Centre.
A place redesigned for local children
The future Centre will offer larger, brighter spaces adapted to the clinical and psychosocial needs of Brome-Missisquoi's children and families. The layout is designed to foster confidentiality, interdisciplinary collaboration and a warm welcome. These conditions are essential to the overall health and development of children in highly vulnerable situations.
The work currently underway will bring the presbytery up to the necessary clinical and community standards, while preserving the human and unifying character of the site.
«We want to offer children the beauty, light and quality of environment they deserve. Physical space plays a real role in their sense of security and in the healing process,» says Dr. Anne Rouleau, family physician and Chair of the Board of Directors.
A major campaign to turn vision into reality
The overall relocation and transformation project represents a total investment of 1.5 M$, divided into two phases.
To date, 800,000 $ have been secured for the project, including :
- 350,000 $ restricted funds
- 150,000 $ from Sibylla Hesse Foundation
- 300,000 $ related to the acquisition mortgage
All that remains now is to mobilize :
- 200,000 $ by July 2026 to complete phase 1 (conversion work)
- 500,000 additional $ by July 2028 for phase 2, to expand offices and services
